Speaking Up for Our Community: Reflections on This Week’s Advocacy Event
This week I had the opportunity to speak at a community event focused on emerging technology, public health, and the growing need for real transparency around nanotechnology. Any time I’m invited to share our work, I’m reminded why Advocacy for Neuro Rights exists in the first place — to give people a voice in conversations that have been happening about them, not with them.
During my talk, I walked the audience through the concerns we’ve been raising for years: how nanotechnology is advancing faster than public understanding, how environmental exposure is becoming harder to ignore, and why ethical oversight has to catch up with innovation. I also shared stories from people who’ve reached out to us — individuals who feel the effects of these technologies long before policymakers even acknowledge them.
But the heart of the message was simple: our community deserves clarity, accountability, and protection. Whether we’re talking about nanosensors, environmental particulates, or the broader neuro‑rights landscape, people deserve to know what’s being developed, what’s being released, and how it affects their bodies and minds.
Events like this remind me that advocacy isn’t just policy work — it’s connection. It’s showing up in rooms where people are hungry for answers and giving them the language, the science, and the courage to ask better questions.
I’m grateful for everyone who attended, listened, and shared their own experiences. Our movement grows every time someone decides they’re no longer willing to stay silent.
If you missed the event and want to stay connected with our upcoming talks, community meetings, or educational sessions, keep an eye on our updates — we’re just getting started.
